Five Question Friday #13

Am I the only one, that feels like summer, is going by too quickly? I feel, like we don't get enough time with our kids. Oh, school. But we're making the best of it. This weekend, we're heading to the lake. I don't know who is more excited, me, our kids, or my hubs. I better get moving. Or else my family is going to leave me. Before I sign off for the weekend, here's my Five Question Friday.

1. Did you make any fun purchases this week? I did. The whole family got new sandals. Mommy just might have gotten 2 pairs. ;)

2. If you could go to any musical concert, what would it be? This is tough. But I'd say it would be between Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Reba, George Strait, or The Zac Brown Band.

3. What is your least fav/ most fav house chore? My favorite chore around the house, is mopping the floors. I don't know what it is. I just love the smell of a good, clean floor. And my least favorite chore is matching socks. Ugh! Why don't they ever match? One is smaller than the other. One has stains. Another has holes. It's just impossible when you have boys.

4. Would you prefer new appliances or clothes? If we're talking kitchen appliances, I'd say appliances. I like new kitchen stuff. Don't you? Small appliances, large appliances. It doesn't matter to me.

5. Miracle Whip or Mayo? Mayo. Why cheat yourself? If you're going to eat it, might as well jump off the deep end. Yum. Now I want a ham, cheese, and mayo sandwich.

Long Hot Summer

Around our house, we're BIG Country Music fans. Keith Urban happens to be one of my favorites too! Lately, I've really been enjoying his music. So much so, we listen to his CD in the car, while I'm driving. All the time. Love it! None more than this song.

Long Hot Summer. Doesn't it just sum up so much? I think so. And I really just like this song. Something fun. Unexpected. Just nice. What else is there to say? Well, I'm going to go enjoy a little bit of summer. With my kids. I hope everyone has a fun, summer day!

Five Question Friday #11

Mama M has taken the week off. To enjoy her family. I totally understand. But I was still craving something to blog about. So I dug through her older posts. Since I've only been blogging for a short time, I haven't done all of the Five Question Fridays. I found the Five Question Friday from a year ago. Sounds good to me. So here we go.

1. Have you ever visited another country? Yes. Canada, France, and Mexico. When I was growing up, my family would visit Mexico at least once a month. We lived going to TJ! As an adult, I've also done some traveling. Patrick and I went to Paris 4 1/2 years ago. We also lived along the border for years. We would venture across, many times. Oh, and a handful of times, we ventured to Canada. When I was in medical school. It wasn't that far away.

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been? Once, when I was young, we went to TJ. It wasn't that far from where I grew up. Our family went with another family. We were all really close. They knew exactly where to go. All the great places to shop and eat. Except dinner. We ended up in this little restaurant. It was underground. And so weird! The food was good. But it just felt odd. Like we were in an "old school restaurant/bar." It felt like, at any second, some "old school gangsters" would come barreling in. It was just odd.

3. What is your favorite season? Hands down, Fall! I LOVE everything about it. The rich colors, yummy smells, the beautiful and changing leaves, the comforting food. Everything just makes me happy, when I think of Fall. I yearn for fall to start every year. I can't wait to pull out my Crockpot to make yummy meals. And bake. The holidays excite me. And there is also the wonderful cool weather. Which means scarves, sweaters, and boots are going to be worn. :)

4. What one song will always cheer you up? Tough. There are so many songs that I love. But "You Are My Sunshine" always puts a smile on my face. It reminds me of being a little girl. When both my grandma, and my mom would sing it to me. Later, when I'd had a tough day at work, my hubby would sing it to me. And now, we sing it to our kids. And early some mornings, they stand by our bed, and sing. Until we wake up. Yes, this is just one of those happy songs. Filled with lots of memories.

5. What Disney character do you resemble most? Most resemble? Belle. If she was a little darker. Why isn't there a Hispanic Inspired Princess? Who am I most like? Goofy, Thumper, or even Dumbo. hehe

Emily of New Moon

Now that we're in the middle of summer, I'm caving. Little by little. In the middle of the day, at the peak point of the heat, we're watching TV. But I'm trying, to at least make our TV watching, somewhat educational. I don't want people to think that I'm mindlessly putting my kids in front of the TV.

No, as a family, we sit and watch. So maybe Ethan is not too keen on some of the shows. Like Sesame Street, Dinosaur Train, or Clifford the Big Red Dog. But I've let all of my kids, pick one show to watch. And that's what we watch.

I was a bit surprised by Madelyn's choice. It seemed a little more mature, than what I thought she'd go for. Just my thoughts there. But Madelyn is such a fan of Emily of New Moon. It reminds me so much of Anne of Green Gables.

This year, Lola sent the entire book series, of Anne of Green Gables, to Madelyn, for her birthday. That's after Daniella got her set. And Madelyn wanted to read all of her sisters' books. See Lola values reading just as much as we do. And we're super glad about that!

Madelyn watches this show like no other! In fact, all of my kids enjoy it. Don't tell Ethan that I said so. But we sit there for 60 minutes, every day, and watch. It really is a cute series. Completely reminds me of the PBS Anne of Green Gables.

What a darling show! Patrick and I are already getting some ideas. For Christmas presents. We're thinking of getting our girls the entire series of Emily of New Moon and Anne of Green Gables. 2 really sweet series. That I'm so glad my kids enjoy. They're learning about a much simpler time. And I LOVE it!

Five Question Friday #10

This week has been a little crazy. We're trying to cram so much summer fun, into our last few weeks of summer. On top of all of that, we've had a week full of appointments. Annual check-ups for the entire family. And a lot of shots! Even our dogs went to the vet, and the groomers. I can say this for the entire family, we're ready for the weekend! We all need some time to relax. Now it's time for Five Question Friday.

1. Do you have siblings and are you close with them? I do have siblings. An older brother and 2 younger sisters. Unfortunately, we're not as close as we should be. Mostly because, I moved away over 18 years ago. I moved to go to school, and never returned home. But now that we're all older, and have kids, we're trying to get close again. Because growing up, we were all so close! It's definitely something, that we are all working on.

2. Would you rather be slightly UNDER weight or slightly OVER weight? Slightly overweight. It's more healthy. I've been both. But overweight is the way I'd go. Just slightly, we're not talking crazy weight here. But an extra 5-15 lbs isn't so bad.

3. What's your favorite State Fair food to splurge on? This is hard. I like turkey legs, and those crazy curly fries. And carmel apples, with nuts. The cut up kind, not the ones on the stick. The fried dough with chocolate inside, then sprinkled with powder sugar. That's my favorite! Darn it, I'm getting hungry now! There are so many things, that I like to splurge on.

4. What are your thoughts on your kid(s) going to school in a few weeks? I'm a little sad. We've really been enjoying our summer. And I LOVE being a mommy. Maybe I'm just a little selfish here. But I HATE having to share my kids. I wish I got more time with them. But they're all excited, to go back to school. We'll have 3 kids in school this year! I can't believe it.

5. Pool or Ocean? Definitely the ocean. We're lucky enough to have a swimming pool. And believe me, we take advantage of that baby, all summer long! Yes, we love the water. But there is just something about the ocean. I miss it so! You see, I'm a California girl. I grew up in the ocean!
